Moong Dal Soup

  • 1/2 cup Moong Dal
  • ½ teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tablespoon black mustard seeds
  • 1 pinch of asafetida
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper powder
  • 1 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons chopped paneer
  • 1 tablespoon chopped green coriander


Step 1

Wash and Soak moong dal in a pressure cooker with 6-8 cups of water, salt for at least 30 minutes. After this put the pressure cooker on the heat and cook until 2-3 whistle.

Step 2

Now take out the pressure cooker and let cool, after daal cold grind the cooked moong Dal in a food processor until the smooth puree then Strain.

Step 3

Heat vegetable oil in a sauce pan then add cumin seeds when they begin to brown add asafetida, immediately pour moong dal puree.

Step 4

Add sugar, lemon juice, salt and pepper and cook the soup for 3-5 minutes.

Step 5

Now garnish with chopped paneer and chopped green coriander then serve hot.
